Essex Champs 2020 - Block C

Essex swimmers were back in action at Basildon Sporting Village last weekend for Block C of the Essex Champs 2020. Once again we produced a set of results that we can be very proud of. With a range of events taking place this weekend we saw success across the board with not only medallists and finalists but PBs and great performances from so many of our swimmers.
Hayden Thomas again led the charge with another impressive win taking Gold in the 100 Breaststroke final. He was hotly followed by a Silver for Rachel Ha in the gruelling 200 Fly and Bronze for our young 12 year old star Pelumi Salu in the 200 Free. Reinforcing the depth of talent we have in the club were our other finalists Holly Timmis and Lily-Mae Kilbey both finishing strongly in their finals.
The 13/14 boys relay team were in action again following their Gold from Block B. They couldn’t quite match this high a second time but still made the finals and came a very respectable 6th overall in a strong field.
With Head Coach Gavin Povall away in Dubai coaching the Swim England National Swimming Talent Team (more on his trip soon) the EFDSC team were left in the capable hands of Vikki Tee who certainly brought out the best in our swimmers keeping them focussed and motivated throughout – so a huge thanks to Vikki and her Team Managers Dagmara, Agnes and Kay.
With two Blocks of Essex complete EFDSC are currently sitting in 11th place out of 27 Essex clubs in the Top Team rankings; punching way above our weight for a club of our size, we are hot on the heels of the big clubs in Essex!
The final Block takes place at the end of the month so there is just enough time to pack in a bit more training and regain our focus for a strong finish to this year’s Essex Champs. It’s been fantastic so far!
